Carpentersville Unveils $13.2 Million Woodlands Teen Impact Center

The center, formerly the Woodlands School, represents a significant expansion of regional youth services. Designed to bridge the gap between high school and the professional world, the site integrates career-readiness initiatives with essential support systems, including mental health services provided through Barrington Youth and Family Services. Beyond academic enrichment, the facility addresses basic needs through partnerships with organizations like the Northern Illinois Food Bank and Food for Greater Elgin.

Mentorship serves as the foundation of the operation, with dedicated staff guiding students through career pathways and local employment opportunities. The curriculum includes hands-on technical training, such as OSHA-certified skilled trades programs and engineering courses, alongside social programs like the Belong initiative. This investment follows a productive 2025 for the organization, during which it provided over 118,000 meals and maintained a 96% high school graduation rate among its members. The grand opening ceremony will feature local officials and community leaders marking the transition of the site into a permanent hub for workforce development in Carpentersville and Barrington.
