Wellworks For You Shifts Wellness Focus Toward Personalized Cost Control

For over a decade, employers have questioned whether corporate wellness programs actually deliver promised savings, often citing lackluster returns in clinical outcomes. Philadelphia-based Wellworks For You is now attempting to reset this debate, arguing that hyper-personalization powered by data and machine learning is the only viable path to meaningful cost containment.

Wellworks For You Shifts Wellness Focus Toward Personalized Cost Control

The company’s new white paper, "Rethinking Wellness ROI: How Personalization and Technology Are Reshaping Outcomes," critiques the industry's historical reliance on hard return-on-investment metrics that often failed to survive rigorous scrutiny. By pivoting toward Value on Investment, the firm aims to capture broader benefits, including improved employee retention, reduced absenteeism, and better mental health support.

Wellworks president Zach Von Eschen contends that the industry previously oversold performance figures that did not hold up under analysis. To move beyond these limitations, the company utilizes its proprietary "Know Your Number" assessment. This system integrates biometric screenings, medical history, and lifestyle data to tailor interventions for individual participants. Evidence of this strategy appears in a partnership with a civil contractor, which reportedly generated $834,000 in annual cost avoidance, alongside biometric resolution rates of nearly 48% for high cholesterol among at-risk employees.

Looking forward, the company is developing an AI-powered companion designed to evolve with each participant's health journey. This technology is intended to bridge the gap between initial risk assessment and ongoing behavioral change. Wellworks, which currently serves over 750 clients and 2 million participants, intends to discuss these findings during a live webinar scheduled for July 28 at 2:00 p.m. ET.
