The new "Petcoween" drop includes a mix of owned and national brand products ranging from dog and cat costumes to specialized gear for small animals like guinea pigs and reptiles. Highlights include themed apparel—such as matching skeleton hoodies for pets and owners—and interactive toys like plush rope spiders and pumpkin-themed scratchers. Jenny Wolski, Senior Vice President of Merchandising at Petco, noted that the collection emphasizes both personality and safety, addressing the growing trend of pet parents wanting to include their animals in holiday celebrations.
Beyond costumes and decor, the company is rolling out safety gear like glow-in-the-dark jackets and anxiety-reducing aids to help pets manage the stress of trick-or-treaters. The seasonal push extends to services as well, with a $29 fall grooming package available from August 30 through October 31. Petco is also hosting a series of in-store events, including a "DOGust" treat giveaway on August 1 and "pumpkin spice latte" events for dogs on August 25, to drive foot traffic as the product line hits shelves and the company website.
