The initiative covers Beijing, Xi'an, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Nanjing, and Guangzhou, focusing on neighborhood gems and cultural narratives that often escape the typical tourist itinerary. Available via the Marriott Bonvoy WeChat account, these guides provide travelers with deeper context for their visits, framing hotels as gateways to authentic local rhythms rather than mere transit points.
Betty Tian, Managing Vice President of Customer Group for Greater China, noted that the collaboration aims to satisfy a growing demand for meaningful, history-rich travel. Complementing the guides, Marriott Bonvoy is rolling out exclusive Moments experiences through October, where members can use points to bid on meet-and-greet sessions with Ma Boyong and specialized stays. By October 2026, the program will further integrate literature by allowing guests to access Ma Boyong’s latest audiobook directly through the Marriott Bonvoy China app or via QR codes located at participating properties.
