BAUHAUS Automates Krefeld Warehouse Logistics with XYZ Robotics

The Krefeld facility manages thousands of daily shipments across more than 10,000 unique product types, a scale that typically defies standard automation due to the unpredictable weight and stacking of cartons. XYZ Robotics utilizes its RockyOne and RockyOne SE units to navigate these variables. While the RockyOne autonomously maneuvers into shipping containers for unloading, a barcode scanning system captures item data, allowing the RockyOne SE to build stable pallets according to pre-defined patterns.

Beyond technical throughput, the transition addresses significant human factor challenges. Manual unloading in confined, temperature-variable environments is physically taxing, often resulting in high staff turnover and safety risks. By shifting personnel to tablet-based system supervision, the company has observed improved operational consistency. Torsten Winter, Vice President of Operations for BAHAG / BAUHAUS AG, noted that the system has operated around the clock since its launch, prompting the retailer to evaluate further integration across its 290-store European network. XYZ Robotics now plans to scale its local support teams to facilitate broader deployment for regional distribution operators.
