Dr. Sybil Francis, President and CEO of the Center for the Future of Arizona, noted that these individuals embody the dedication required to build the state's long-term stability. The awards serve as a memorial to Gabe Zimmerman, the former outreach director for U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords, who died in the 2011 Tucson shooting. By honoring those who prioritize public welfare, the program seeks to preserve Zimmerman’s legacy of service and community engagement.
