Beginning Friday, July 24, relief teams will operate daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Walmart Supercenter located at 100 Buckhannon Xrds. The initiative centers on the Tide Loads of Hope mobile laundry service, which offers free cleaning for up to two loads of clothing per household. Alongside laundry services, the site features mobile shower trailers equipped with private stalls and ADA-compliant units, as well as dedicated stations for diaper changing.
Beyond immediate sanitation, the program is distributing personal care kits containing products from brands including Crest, Dawn, Pantene, and Gillette. These supplies aim to provide a baseline of routine and comfort for families navigating the aftermath of mudslides and road closures. According to Claude Zukowski, Senior Director of Community Impact at P&G, the goal is to alleviate the logistical burden on those managing the recovery process. Updates on daily capacity and scheduling are available through the Matthew 25: Ministries disaster relief portal.
