The festival marks a strategic effort to formalize hockey development in the region, drawing support from the National Hockey League, the Vancouver Canucks, and Bauer Hockey. By partnering with the Ice Hockey Association of India, organizers hope to establish sustainable pathways for local athletes and coaches who have historically lacked access to professional-level training resources.
Janda, the NHL’s first full-time South Asian color commentator, views the event as a vehicle for cultural exchange and professional mentorship. Mahesh will anchor the practical side of the initiative, leading player development sessions and a dedicated Coaches Summit designed to share the tactical philosophies currently utilized in the professional ranks. Public engagement begins August 1 at the Nexus Elante Chandigarh, followed by a full day of technical clinics and workshops on August 2 at the Sector 10 Rink.
