Under the new ownership structure, Taylor Morrison will integrate its portfolio—including the Esplanade and Yardly brands—with Clayton Properties Group, a collection of 15 regional builders already under the Berkshire umbrella. Sheryl Palmer will remain at the helm of Taylor Morrison to oversee the transition. This unification positions the combined entity as the fourth-largest homebuilding operation in the country, spanning 21 states and 52 distinct housing markets.
Berkshire Hathaway CEO Greg Abel noted the acquisition aligns with a broader vision to consolidate site-built operations and expand homeownership access. With the deal closed, the company intends to leverage Taylor Morrison’s specialized local expertise alongside the scale of Berkshire’s capital resources to serve diverse segments ranging from entry-level buyers to resort lifestyle communities. The transaction relied on legal and financial counsel from firms including Goldman Sachs, Moelis & Company, and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.
