The material, a highly crosslinked ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, incorporates vitamin E to bolster oxidative stability and wear resistance compared to conventional alternatives. By introducing the antioxidant before the compression molding and gamma irradiation process, the manufacturer aims to preserve the structural integrity of the liners over long-term use. Dr. Thomas Wright, who performed the initial surgeries this week, noted that the combination of the Equinoxe platform’s established clinical history with the enhanced polyethylene properties offers a promising path toward improving patient outcomes.

Chief Executive Officer Aurelio Sahagun stated that the expansion reflects a broader strategy to standardize advanced material options across the company's orthopedic catalog.
