ASUS Refreshes Server Lineup with 6th-Gen AMD EPYC Processors

San Francisco officials and tech leaders gathered as ASUS unveiled a new server portfolio built on the AMD EPYC 9006 architecture. Designed to handle intensive AI inferencing and cloud-based workloads, the hardware introduces a modular approach to enterprise computing aimed at increasing density while lowering total ownership costs for data centers.

The new lineup splits into two primary categories. The dual-socket RS700A/720A series targets extreme compute density, offering support for 32 DIMM slots and 32 E3.S storage bays within a 2U chassis. For environments constrained by rack space, the single-socket RS500A/520A series offers a depth of under 800mm while maintaining PCIe 6.0 capabilities and modular component sharing with its larger counterparts.

ASUS has implemented several proprietary engineering changes to support the AMD EPYC 9006 chips. The DC-MHS modular architecture allows for zone-partitioned chassis design, separating storage and fan modules to streamline maintenance. Thermal management is handled by Thermal Radar 3.0, which uses PID control for real-time fan regulation, and the patented DIMM.2 innovation, which relocates M.2 storage to cooler regions to prevent thermal throttling. According to Paul Ju, Senior Vice President at ASUS, these systems are intended to provide a resilient foundation for businesses scaling AI infrastructure and complex simulations.
