The security industry is currently grappling with a shift toward high-precision attacks. While traditional email filters hunt for known malware signatures or blacklisted senders, modern AI tools allow criminals to craft personalized, context-aware lures at a negligible cost. According to AegisAI’s 2026 data, AI-generated emails now evade conventional defenses at double the rate of human-written scams, with over 72% of these threats bypassing standard authentication protocols by utilizing compromised, legitimate accounts.
Co-founders Cy Khormaee and Ryan Luo, who previously helped architect Google’s reCAPTCHA and Safe Browsing systems, are scaling their platform to neutralize these threats. Their technology, which includes the threat-hunting agent Vanguard, evaluates the underlying intent of communications to identify deception. With this latest investment, the company plans to expand its enterprise market presence and further develop its autonomous defense infrastructure. Current clients, including Mesh and LangChain, are already utilizing these agents to mitigate business email compromise and identity-based attacks that have contributed to record-breaking cybercrime losses reaching $20.8 billion globally.
