California American Water Launches $2.5 Million Groundwater Project

The project centers on proactive engineering to prevent the degradation of aging assets, exemplified by the ongoing work at the 1989-era Auberry Well within the Parkway water system. Technical crews are conducting comprehensive inspections, pump overhauls, and redevelopment testing to restore the well's original efficiency. These efforts are designed to extend the lifespan of critical components without disrupting service for local residents.

Usmita Pokhrel, Senior Manager of Engineering, noted that consistent rehabilitation is essential for maintaining system resilience. Beyond mechanical cleaning and pump testing, the scope of work includes electrical modifications, chemical treatments, and structural piping upgrades. By systematically addressing these groundwater facilities, the utility intends to secure a reliable water supply for its Northern District customers for years to come.
