Operation Pathways Secures Grant to Combat Senior Food Insecurity

The funding, part of a $3.8 million distribution to 24 organizations across Maryland and Michigan, will be deployed at The Bolton North Apartments and The Terraces at Park Heights. By stationing Resident Services Coordinators on-site, the program aims to bridge the gap between vulnerable seniors and essential nutrition. Planned interventions include assisted SNAP enrollment, the expansion of on-site food pantries, and the launch of food box delivery services to ensure residents can age in place safely.

Launched in 2022 by Enterprise Community Partners with backing from the Edward N. and Della L. Thome Memorial Foundation, the initiative prioritizes a trust-based philanthropic model. This approach grants local organizations the agility to address community-specific obstacles directly. Stephany De Scisciolo, vice president of Impact, Evaluation and Population Health at Enterprise, noted that the strategy focuses on placing resources in the hands of community-based partners who work daily to keep seniors housed and independent in their own neighborhoods.
