The upgrade introduces a Family Chores Manager, designed to gamify daily responsibilities. Children can track tasks—such as packing lunches or clearing the dishwasher—directly on the wall-mounted screen, earning points toward custom rewards. A built-in child lock prevents accidental interference with other family members' settings, moving the process away from traditional whiteboards or smartphone apps.
Beyond chore management, the interface integrates Home Assistant, allowing users to adjust lighting, locks, and thermostats without leaving the main display. A new dock system enables quick navigation between shared calendars, photo galleries, and weather updates. DAKboard, which currently serves over 300,000 families globally, designed the software to be hardware-agnostic. It runs on existing tablets, TVs, or monitors, ensuring families can deploy the system without purchasing proprietary devices. According to marketing manager Katie Gensel, the goal is to redistribute the mental load of scheduling, turning fragmented routines into a collaborative effort.
