For years, healthcare educators struggled with rigid VR content that failed to match the unique workflows of their own hospitals or teaching facilities. Previously, any adjustment to patient interactions or EHR screenshots required a time-consuming vendor request. The Scenario Editor removes this bottleneck by placing control in the hands of the faculty, allowing them to align virtual scenarios with local accreditation requirements and specific medical practices.
The platform supports a wide range of modifications, including the integration of institution-specific medication formularies and the ability to update patient responses via AI-generated audio. To ensure safety, the system utilizes non-destructive versioning, which preserves the original scenario while allowing users to save edits as new iterations. According to Sarah Davis, SimX’s product manager, the tool was developed specifically to eliminate the complex workarounds faculty members previously invented to force realism into their training.
Jen Polson, Head of Product at SimX, emphasized that immersion relies on the consistency of the clinical environment. If a virtual interface or lab value deviates from the student’s real-world experience, the educational value diminishes. By enabling instructors to replicate their specific clinical environment—including interfaces from Epic or Cerner—the software aims to keep learners engaged in a realistic, accurate context. The new tool is immediately compatible with the existing SimX AI Assistant, ensuring that customized content retains its interactive capabilities without additional technical setup.
