Under the new collaboration, researchers directed by Prof. Florian Krammer gain access to Nona’s proprietary technology, which produces antibodies with fully human structures following immunization. This approach allows the institute to streamline the discovery of candidates targeting viral spike proteins, providing a robust foundation for future diagnostic and therapeutic applications.
Dr. Di Hong, CEO of Nona Biosciences, noted that the partnership combines the company’s platform with the specialized expertise of the Vienna-based team. For MedUni Vienna, the agreement bridges a critical gap in its translational pipeline. Prof. Krammer emphasized that the ability to generate and characterize human antibodies against specific biological targets is essential for responding to emerging viral threats, effectively expanding the university’s capacity for high-stakes biomedical innovation.
