Galloway Expands Western Footprint With Acquisition of AWA

Denver-based architecture and engineering firm Galloway & Company finalized its acquisition of Salt Lake City-based Anderson Wahlen & Associates on July 1, 2026. This consolidation merges Galloway’s national multidisciplinary operations with AWA’s specialized land development expertise, marking a significant expansion for the firm across the western United States.

Galloway Expands Western Footprint With Acquisition of AWA

The integration of AWA, a firm established in 1958, brings a robust portfolio of civil engineering, land planning, and construction support services into the Galloway fold. AWA has earned recognition as Utah’s Best of State winner for civil engineering for two consecutive years, a reputation Galloway President Dave Guetig cited as a primary driver for the partnership. The move aligns with Galloway’s long-term growth strategy, supported by investment partners ARA Services Partners and Kelso & Company.

For AWA, the acquisition serves as a strategic evolution, according to company President Bret Wahlen, who emphasized that the cultural synergy between the two organizations made the deal compelling. Galloway, which currently employs 450 professionals across 18 offices, has climbed 102 spots on the Engineering News Report Top 500 list over the last five years. By incorporating AWA’s regional expertise, the firm aims to bolster its multidisciplinary design capabilities and broaden its service impact across its 10-state footprint.
