Northern Jet Adds First Ultra-Long-Range Gulfstream G550

With a range of 6,500 nautical miles, a new Gulfstream G550 has officially joined the Northern Jet fleet under its FAA Part 135 certificate. The arrival marks the company’s first foray into the ultra-long-range category, signaling a strategic shift to capture demand for extended international and coast-to-coast private travel.

The G550 stands as the largest aircraft currently managed by the Orlando-based operator, offering a cabin configured for 14 passengers. Beyond its expanded physical footprint, the jet includes Starlink high-speed connectivity and an in-flight accessible baggage compartment, features intended to support both executive productivity and long-haul comfort. CEO Chris Bull characterized the acquisition as a milestone for the company’s 31-year history, noting that the move directly addresses client requests for broader reach and increased cabin space.

This expansion aligns with Northern Jet’s recent focus on heavy and large-cabin aircraft. By integrating the G550, the company aims to reduce the need for fuel stops on transatlantic and multi-regional itineraries. The fleet addition reinforces Northern Jet’s current service model, which includes charter, fractional ownership, and aircraft management, while providing a new tier of capability for their existing member base.
