Team PRONC Joins E1 World Championship to Showcase African Excellence

A consortium of Nigerian entrepreneurs has officially entered the 2027 UIM E1 World Championship, aiming to translate the country’s cultural influence and hospitality into the high-speed arena of electric powerboat racing. The move marks a strategic effort to elevate African representation within the elite, global motorsport circuit.

Team PRONC Joins E1 World Championship to Showcase African Excellence

The newly formed Team PRONC secured its spot at the Yacht Club de Monaco during the 2026 E1 race weekend. Founded by a group including Cecil Hammond, Richie Shittu, Preye Berezi, Osahon Okunbo, and Ndy Oruche, the organization intends to position itself as a lifestyle brand that bridges the gap between competitive racing and global cultural promotion. By joining a series already backed by figures like LeBron James, Tom Brady, and Rafael Nadal, the team plans to leverage the platform to highlight African innovation and create pathways for emerging talent.

E1 Chairman Alejandro Agag emphasized that the entry aligns with the series' goal of global expansion, specifically by deepening its roots in Africa. The championship, which mandates teams field both male and female pilots, focuses on sustainable marine technology across iconic coastal cities including Lagos and Monaco. While technical details regarding the team’s pilots and specific livery remain under development, the founders view this entry as an opportunity to build a sustainable sporting legacy that extends beyond the racecourse.
