Pratt & Whitney Secures 800 GTF Engine Orders in 2026

The recent wave of contracts includes commitments from major global carriers and leasing firms such as AirAsia, British Airways, Finnair, and VietJet. With these additions, the GTF program now counts over 14,000 orders from 90 customers worldwide. Rick Deurloo, president of Commercial Engines at Pratt & Whitney, attributed the momentum to the performance benefits of the upcoming GTF Advantage engine, which promises improved fuel efficiency and extended time-on-wing intervals.

Technically, the GTF architecture remains a cornerstone of the company’s strategy to reduce emissions and noise. The engines currently offer a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and a 75% smaller noise footprint than previous generations. As the fleet expands, RTX projects the engines will surpass 300 million flight hours by the mid-2030s, cementing the geared fan design as the primary foundation for the company’s future propulsion development.
