Gold Rebounds Amid Geopolitical Tensions and Crude Oil Volatility

Spot gold surged 1.83% to $4,080.20 per ounce on Tuesday, defying headwinds from a stronger U.S. dollar and rising Treasury yields. The rally, mirrored by a 4.29% jump in silver, reflects intense haven demand as conflict in the Strait of Hormuz pushes crude oil prices toward the $91 mark.

Gold Rebounds Amid Geopolitical Tensions and Crude Oil Volatility

The precious metals market is currently navigating a complex tension between defensive buying and macroeconomic pressure. While higher yields—with the 10-year Treasury note climbing to 4.628%—typically dampen bullion's appeal, investors are prioritizing geopolitical risk. The ongoing military friction near the Strait of Hormuz and shipping threats in the Red Sea have kept energy inflation at the forefront of trader sentiment, effectively overshadowing the prospect of further Federal Reserve rate hikes.

Technically, the market is showing renewed momentum. Gold has successfully cleared its $4,041.65 to $4,072.40 retracement zone, shifting the near-term advantage back to the bulls. Silver has similarly reclaimed its 50-period moving average of $57.68, testing resistance near $59.15. Market participants remain focused on upcoming policy discussions and potential ceasefire developments, which are expected to dictate whether bullion can sustain this breakout or if rising interest rate expectations will force a reversal.
