Since the company’s inception in 2012, educators have utilized these vertical growing units to bridge the gap between classroom theory and community nutrition. Marie Morud, a Farm to School Coordinator in North Iowa, noted that the systems have transformed local libraries and after-school programs into food sources, yielding everything from herbs to peppers for community pantries.
