The expansion centers on a base of high-quality Japanese matcha paired with oat milk. Each 16oz iced drink is prepared to order, allowing for the same level of customization—including sweetness levels and milk alternatives—that defines the brand’s traditional coffee service. Prices range from $6.50 for the classic Iced Matcha to $7.50 for more complex variations.
The lineup highlights distinct flavor profiles: the Strawberry Matcha incorporates fresh purée, while the Strawberry Mint Matcha adds the company’s signature herb. The Salted Caramel Matcha rounds out the selection by balancing the earthy green tea notes with rich caramel and sea salt. According to Chief Business Officer Andy Mai, the goal was to integrate these ingredients into the existing Philz experience, ensuring the drinks feel approachable rather than purely trendy.
Customers can order the new beverages in-store or through the Philz mobile app, where they can also track progress on the brand’s rewards program. The rollout marks a significant shift for the company, which has primarily focused on its roasted coffee blends since its 2003 founding in San Francisco.
