The capital infusion allows the company to transition toward high-velocity manufacturing as it prepares to scale production for commercial-grade solar modules. Sofab Inks focuses on replacing C60 fullerenes—a material prone to voltage loss and structural cracking—with metal-oxide nanoparticles. According to CEO Blake Martin, these materials bond significantly stronger than their predecessors and have demonstrated 22.3% efficiency on 30-centimeter single-junction modules.
Beyond utility-scale energy, the technology targets specialized sectors including automotive, aerospace, and IoT. Because perovskite films are roughly 100 times thinner than traditional silicon and can be fabricated at lower temperatures, they are suitable for flexible or weight-sensitive surfaces. The company is currently engaged with roughly 90% of the perovskite industry, securing partnerships with firms such as Alpha Precision Systems, Energy Materials Corporation, and SunXT. As part of its growth strategy, Sofab Inks plans to triple its engineering team to manage the transition from current development stages to large-scale commercial specifications.
