The platform addresses a long-standing gap in digital correctional tools by enabling staff to initiate threads rather than waiting for inmate-submitted forms. Senior Director of Product Andrew Lewis stated that the system was developed to save time on routine updates, such as housing changes or program schedules, while maintaining the strict oversight required in secure environments. By moving away from time-consuming in-person notifications, administrators can now reach specific individuals, entire pods, or the whole facility in seconds.

Beyond simple delivery, the system includes built-in safeguards to manage communication flow and prevent staff from being overwhelmed by unnecessary responses. Facilities can set permissions to control whether inmates are allowed to reply and can mandate a digital acknowledgment to ensure critical messages are received. All interactions are centralized and trackable, providing a permanent audit trail for facility operations. HomeWAV plans to deploy the feature across its existing network of tablets and kiosks, offering a functionality the company claims is currently unavailable through competing technology providers.
