The second-generation model features a 2048×2048 resolution, providing a 1:1 head-to-toe view that captures visitors and packages in high-contrast lighting via HDR. To accommodate various installation requirements, the device offers two primary operating modes: a wire-free battery setup or a wired connection to 8–24VAC systems. When using the optional wired power mode, users can unlock 24/7 continuous recording and pre-recording functionality through the Reolink app.
Reolink is emphasizing local data sovereignty by relying on microSD storage of up to 512GB, eliminating the need for recurring cloud subscription fees. The onboard AI processor handles detection for people, vehicles, animals, and packages directly on the device. Security is further bolstered by new voice-masking and tamper-alert capabilities. According to Annie Potter, head of marketing for Reolink North America, the design goal was to provide high-performance security features without forcing users into restrictive ecosystems or complex wiring setups. The unit is currently available via the company’s website and its official Amazon storefront.
