Domino's Pizza reports Q2 2026 growth despite industry headwinds

Domino's Pizza navigated a tightening quick-service market in the second quarter of 2026, posting a 3.0% increase in global retail sales. CEO Russell Weiner attributed the performance to sustained order volume growth across both delivery and carryout channels, even as broader U.S. consumer demand showed signs of persistent pressure.

The Ann Arbor-based company reported income from operations of $232.0 million, a 3.1% rise compared to the same period last year. This uptick occurred alongside a global expansion that added 209 net new stores, bringing the total footprint to 22,531 locations. While international store growth remained aggressive, U.S. same-store sales growth was modest at 0.1%, reflecting the competitive landscape currently facing major restaurant chains.

Financial health remains a priority for the brand, with diluted earnings per share reaching $4.07, up 6.8% year-over-year. The company continues to return capital to shareholders, retiring 443,917 shares during the quarter and declaring a $1.99 per share dividend. Despite a 5.5% dip in free cash flow compared to the previous year, management maintains that the company's scale and loyalty program integration provide a buffer against fluctuating food basket costs and broader economic uncertainty.
