Sungrow Secures First German Inertia Market Certification

German grid standards have officially cleared the first energy storage system for inertia market entry, as Sungrow’s SC210HX series Power Conversion Systems received the VDE FNN Prototype Certificate from TÜV Rheinland. This milestone marks a critical shift in how grid-forming technology is validated for Europe’s complex high-voltage networks.

Sungrow Secures First German Inertia Market Certification

The certification process, governed by VDE FNN, establishes a benchmark for equipment reliability and grid-support capabilities. By passing these requirements, Sungrow’s PowerTitan systems can now bypass traditional integration hurdles, allowing developers to accelerate project timelines and reduce the risks associated with grid acceptance in the European market.

At the core of this performance is Sungrow’s proprietary Stem-Cell Grid-Forming Technology. Unlike standard converters, these systems can independently manage frequency and voltage regulation without relying on external synchronization. In environments with high renewable energy penetration, the technology maintains stability during short-circuit faults and supports black start capabilities. For developers and financial institutions, this VDE compliance acts as a primary indicator of asset bankability, ensuring that energy storage projects meet the stringent technical expectations required for modern, inertia-based grid infrastructure.
