Fibocom and Intedigo Demonstrate 5G Teleoperation for Embodied AI

Visitors at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai are stepping into virtual cockpits to steer race cars located miles away at HURA PARK. This beyond-visual-line-of-sight demonstration highlights how high-speed 5G connectivity enables the precise, low-latency control required for the next generation of industrial embodied AI.

Fibocom and Intedigo Demonstrate 5G Teleoperation for Embodied AI

The joint project between Fibocom and Intedigo utilizes the FM160 5G module to establish a bidirectional data link between the remote station and the vehicle. By maintaining a glass-to-glass video latency of under 80 milliseconds and control latency below 10 milliseconds, the system proves that cellular networks can handle the rigorous demands of remote human intervention in high-dynamic environments. The setup transmits 1080p video feeds and real-time vehicle telemetry while simultaneously returning command inputs from the driver.

Intedigo CEO Daniel Liu noted that while remote racing serves as an accessible entry point, the technology is designed to solve the critical challenge of Human-in-the-Loop intervention for autonomous systems. As robots and intelligent terminals move into factories and logistics hubs, they require reliable remote assistance to navigate unexpected events. Fibocom’s FM160, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X62 5G Modem-RF System, provides the necessary bandwidth and stability to ensure these machines remain operational and responsive. This collaboration positions 5G as a foundational infrastructure for machine-to-machine communication, moving beyond simple human connectivity to support scalable industrial automation.
