Vanier Inventor Designs Self-Stabilizing Crutch Attachment

After navigating the recovery process from two consecutive hip surgeries, a Vanier, Ontario resident sought a remedy for the constant frustration of balancing crutches against walls. The result is the Crutch Clutch, a patent-pending device engineered to keep mobility aids upright and within arm's reach at all times.

Vanier Inventor Designs Self-Stabilizing Crutch Attachment

The mechanism eliminates the common issue of crutches slipping to the floor, a frequent hazard for those with limited mobility. By incorporating a stabilizing base, the invention allows users to secure their support equipment in a fixed position without requiring additional external hardware. The design emphasizes durability and ease of use, catering specifically to the needs of individuals recovering from orthopedic procedures or those requiring long-term assistance.

Currently, the inventor is working with the Toronto office of InventHelp to bring the concept to market. The project is open for licensing or direct sale to medical device manufacturers. A functional prototype and technical schematics have been finalized for potential partners interested in the design, which carries the reference number TRO-1639.
