Akko Debuts U1 Mechanical Switch Series Ahead of 10th Anniversary

As the brand nears its decade milestone, Shenzhen-based Akko has unveiled the U1 Series, a new generation of mechanical switches focused on material engineering and acoustic refinement. The launch begins with the Creamy Yellow U1, signaling a shift toward more consistent, factory-lubed performance for custom keyboard enthusiasts.

Akko Debuts U1 Mechanical Switch Series Ahead of 10th Anniversary

The U1 Series centers on a proprietary POM-blend material designed to improve smoothness while maintaining the self-lubricating qualities long associated with the polymer. Engineers redesigned the cylindrical stem and rail structure to minimize contact area, which aims to produce a deeper, more focused thocky sound profile. By pairing this with an upgraded POM top housing, the company claims it has successfully suppressed spring ping and unwanted resonance.

The Creamy Yellow U1 serves as the flagship for this new ecosystem, blending the crisp feedback of previous V3 models with the deeper acoustic character of the V5. Beyond acoustics, the switch includes a light-guiding column to enhance RGB diffusion across compatible PCBs. Alongside the Creamy Yellow, the lineup introduces the tactile Creamy Purple U1, the linear Piano U1 for stability, and the high-speed Crystal Silver U1 for gaming environments. These components will feature in upcoming hardware releases, including the 5075 V5 keyboard, as Akko transitions its broader catalog to the new U1 standard.
