The relocation will see The Tasting Room occupy 2 West Plant Street at the corner of Main, while The Chef’s Table takes the adjacent space at 12 West Plant Street. The move represents a homecoming of sorts, shifting the culinary concepts from their 1927 Edgewater Hotel home to the Dillard & Boyd Building, which stands as a survivor of the city's 1909 fire.
Founded in 2008 by Kevin and Laurie Tarter, the restaurants have operated for nearly two decades within the constraints of a single small kitchen. The new facility will finally provide the space required for growth, featuring a significantly larger kitchen, additional indoor dining capacity, and second-floor event spaces overlooking the historic district. Covered outdoor dining will also be expanded to accommodate increased demand.
Management will remain under the direction of General Manager Alicia Havard, ensuring continuity for longtime patrons. Jim Larweth, founder of Anton Hospitality Holdings, emphasized that the project serves as a long-term investment in the city’s architectural heritage. While the restaurants plan to scale their operations and staff, they intend to maintain the intimacy and service standards that earned them recognition, including Florida Trend’s Golden Spoon Award.
