Chambersburg Distillery Marks Town's 1864 Burning With New Bourbon

The whiskey debut coincides with the annual "Ransoming, Burning & Rebirth of Chambersburg" event, scheduled for July 18, 2026. This commemoration serves as both a historical reflection and a celebration of the community that rose from the ashes of the American Civil War. General John McCausland ordered the destruction of the town after citizens refused to meet General Jubal Early’s steep demand for $100,000 in gold or $500,000 in Greenbacks.

Cold Spring Hollow Distillery will offer the new bourbon throughout the day at Old Market Day and during the evening programming at Courthouse Plaza. The event schedule features a full slate of activities, including a conversation with John Brown at 6:00 PM and the official presentation of the new spirit at 6:50 PM. The day concludes with an evening performance dedicated to the town's history. The Franklin County Visitors Bureau views the release as a meaningful connection to local heritage, inviting residents and visitors to explore the area's architecture and history.
