The addition of Heacock and Speer marks a strategic pivot for Overlord Labs as it moves from the design phase to physical production. Engineering samples of the GENESIS chip are expected later this month, aimed at integrating battery management directly into silicon for high-performance, power-hungry edge devices. The company claims its Silicon × Algorithm Architecture offers a necessary departure from traditional, fixed-function battery management systems.
David Heacock brings over three decades of experience in the sector, including a tenure leading the Silicon Valley Analog Group at Texas Instruments. His background in managing high-volume production is expected to provide technical guidance as the company scales. Meanwhile, Robert M. Speer offers a different brand of expertise. Having served as Acting Secretary of the Army and held senior roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Speer brings experience in establishing financial discipline and governance within complex, high-pressure environments. According to CEO Richard Nicholson, the dual appointments provide the technical and organizational rigor required to position the GENESIS platform as a foundational infrastructure layer for mobile technology.
