Parallel Brings Agentic Web Search to Google Gemini Enterprise

Palo Alto-based startup Parallel is integrating its search infrastructure directly into the Google Cloud Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, allowing businesses to provide AI agents with native, live-web access. The partnership aims to replace fragmented search and billing setups with a streamlined, production-grade toolset for enterprise developers.

The integration allows Parallel’s search capabilities to function as a primary grounding source within Gemini, accessible via the Gemini Enterprise API and Google Cloud Marketplace. By moving search infrastructure into the existing Google Cloud environment, companies can consolidate billing and security management under their current invoices. Parag Agrawal, the former Twitter CEO who founded Parallel, stated that AI agents require purpose-built infrastructure to handle the scale and frequency of web interactions that will soon surpass human usage.

Google Cloud’s Matt Renner emphasized that the collaboration focuses on simplifying the path from prototype to deployment. By connecting Gemini models to Parallel’s AI-native web index, agents can perform complex prompt decomposition while generating responses supported by verified citations. The service is available immediately, with usage costs applied toward a company’s existing Google Cloud commitments. Parallel, which has secured $230 million in funding from firms including Sequoia Capital and Khosla Ventures, continues to position its proprietary web index as the backbone for autonomous agents tasked with high-stakes knowledge work.
