American Council of the Blind to Distribute AI Glasses to Veterans

The distribution event runs from 1 to 5 p.m. during the 2026 ACB Conference and Convention. Veterans receiving the glasses will also gain a complimentary day pass to the event. To qualify, recipients must present proof of military service, confirm their status as legally blind, and possess a compatible smartphone. The effort serves as a component of Meta’s broader pledge to donate 130,000 units of this assistive technology to blinded veterans globally.

Beyond providing hardware, the American Council of the Blind will offer training resources to ensure users can leverage the glasses for reading text, identifying objects, and navigating their surroundings. ACB Executive Director Scott Thornhill noted that the partnership aligns with the organization's mission to improve quality of life and autonomy for those with low vision.
