Speedway Motorsports Joins Ownership Group of zMAX CARS Tour

Speedway Motorsports, the massive track operator steered by CEO Marcus Smith, has acquired a stake in the zMAX CARS Tour. This move aligns the corporate powerhouse with a star-studded ownership group that already includes NASCAR veterans Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton, and Justin Marks.

The partnership signals a major expansion for the Southeast’s premier asphalt late model series as it seeks to scale its footprint in the short-track racing ecosystem. Justin Marks, a co-owner of the series, noted that the addition of Smith’s business infrastructure provides the necessary momentum to elevate the tour into a consistent, must-watch racing product. For Speedway Motorsports, the investment serves as a strategic bridge, connecting their grassroots U.S. Legend Cars International pipeline directly to the competitive late model circuit and eventually toward NASCAR’s national divisions.

Marcus Smith, who currently oversees 11 motorsports facilities ranging from Atlanta to Sonoma, emphasized that the move stays true to the company’s history of fostering driver development. The announcement arrives just ahead of a high-profile doubleheader scheduled for July 17 at North Wilkesboro Speedway, a venue that has become a cornerstone of the tour since its 2022 revival. Fans will see the Spears Manufacturing 75 and the Skyline National Bank 100 take center stage at the historic track, further cementing the venue's role in the series’ growing national profile.
