The final phase of the Lockhart Solar and Storage facility in San Bernardino County has reached commercial operations, adding 80 megawatts of capacity to the grid. The project marks the completion of a massive renewable energy site now capable of powering more than 350,000 homes and businesses across the region.

Terra-Gen, an independent renewable energy producer owned by Masdar and Igneo Infrastructure Partners, finalized the four-phase project this July. The expansion brings the total site capacity to 365 MW of solar generation supported by 173.7 MW of battery storage. The facility spans 4,000 acres of private land and integrates nearly one million solar modules with 248 battery enclosures, all feeding into Southern California Edison’s Kramer Junction Substation.

John O'Connor, CEO of Terra-Gen, noted that the project is part of a larger 15 GW development pipeline intended to address rising electricity demand. Construction required over 122,000 work hours and supported more than 220 jobs at peak activity, with Cupertino Electric serving as the primary contractor. The site now stands as a cornerstone of Terra-Gen’s 4.2 GW operating portfolio, which focuses heavily on utility-scale wind, solar, and storage assets throughout the United States.
