D2L Unveils AI-Driven Content Tools at Fusion 2026

In Phoenix, D2L has introduced a suite of AI features aimed at streamlining course development and deepening student engagement. Announced at the Fusion 2026 conference, the updates focus on automating content adaptation for educators while providing learners with personalized, real-time tutoring support throughout their academic journey.

The core of the announcement centers on D2L Lumi Remix, a tool designed to help organizations repurpose existing materials by using AI to tailor content, translate text, and integrate Creator+ elements without requiring a full rebuild. This shift aims to reduce the administrative burden on corporate learning teams and educators alike, allowing them to scale course delivery more efficiently.

Alongside content creation tools, the company debuted D2L Lumi Learner Mode. Scheduled for beta release in September for Lumi Pro users, this feature enables students to interact more dynamically with course materials through AI-powered tutoring, automated note-taking, and progress tracking. Dr. Cristi Ford, Chief Learning Officer at D2L, emphasized that these tools are intended to keep the learning process human-centric, ensuring that technology serves as a support mechanism rather than a replacement for interaction.

Beyond AI, D2L announced updates to its Brightspace platform and H5P integrations to improve accessibility and group management. These technical refinements include adherence to WCAG 2.2 standards and a new tool called Createspace, which is slated for limited release in August before a wider rollout in December 2026.
