The updated platform moves beyond simple code assistance, positioning Bob as an end-to-end development partner. A key addition is 'Bobalytics,' a diagnostic tool that provides visibility into productivity, quality, and AI-related spending. By matching specific models to individual tasks and utilizing subagents to isolate context, the system aims to curb the unpredictable costs often associated with large-scale AI deployment.
IBM is also launching Premium Packages tailored for legacy modernization, specifically targeting IBM Z, IBM i, and Java environments. These packages codify decades of institutional knowledge into repeatable, auditable workflows. The impact of this approach is already visible in practice: consulting firm Blue Pearl reported using the tool to condense a modernization program that was initially estimated to require nine months and 14 engineers into a three-day project. As Neel Sundaresan, IBM’s General Manager of Automation and AI, noted, the goal is to provide a platform that integrates into existing engineering ecosystems with the governance and security standards required by global enterprises.
