Allergy & Asthma Network Brings Data-Driven Patient Advocacy to NACCHO360

When public health officials gather in Louisville for the NACCHO360 conference this July, the Allergy & Asthma Network will center its presence on a fundamental shift: merging technical data analysis with the lived experiences of patients to combat chronic respiratory disease.

Allergy & Asthma Network Brings Data-Driven Patient Advocacy to NACCHO360

The organization’s approach for the July 14–17 event moves beyond traditional outreach, emphasizing that scientific rigor is ineffective without the trust of the communities it serves. Mitu Patel, the network’s Data Insights and Analytics Manager, will lead a session exploring the environmental triggers of asthma in Kentucky, specifically examining the smoking-asthma link through geographical mapping.

Complementing the technical research, Adeela Abbasi, Director of Community Outreach and Health Equity, will present a framework for chronic disease engagement that prioritizes community voices over top-down directives. By highlighting these dual pillars—evidence and equity—the network aims to provide public health leaders with a blueprint for systems that are more responsive to the populations they serve. This participation reflects the group's long-standing mandate to bridge the gap between abstract clinical research and the practical realities of patients navigating asthma and allergies.
