Farley, an emerita professor at Emory University School of Medicine, officially assumed her duties on July 1, 2026. Her tenure prioritizes strengthening partnerships to address evolving public health challenges. Joining her in executive roles are President-Elect Kevin A. Ault, MD, a specialist in maternal immunization, and Vice President Ruth Lynfield, MD, a veteran epidemiologist. Jeffery A. Goad, PharmD, MPH, shifts to the role of immediate past-president, while Kevin Rooney continues his oversight as secretary-treasurer.
The organization also expanded its governing body by welcoming three new members: William P. Hausdorff, PhD, a vaccine development expert at PATH; Veronica V. McNally, JD, a prominent vaccine advocate and head of the Franny Strong Foundation; and public health scientist Jessica Steier, DrPH, MPH, founder of Unbiased Science. These appointments aim to bolster the foundation’s expertise in global vaccine access, legal advocacy, and science communication. CEO Rebecca Alvania noted that the new additions complement the board’s existing clinical strengths, ensuring the NFID remains equipped to navigate a complex public health landscape.
