Mantra Health Recruits MJ Norero to Lead Government Advocacy

Norero joins the organization with a decade of experience navigating the intersection of healthcare policy and higher education. Previously, she served as Vice President of Government Affairs and Chief of Staff at Hazel Health for over five years, where she directed mental health strategy for K-12 students. Her transition to Mantra Health aims to translate that expertise into advocacy for public higher education systems, addressing the structural gaps and funding mandates currently hindering consistent student care.

CEO Matt Kennedy noted that Norero’s appointment is designed to accelerate collaborations with state legislators and public institutions, including the Universities of Wisconsin and the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. To bolster these efforts, the company has also engaged the Strategos Group, a consultancy specializing in government affairs. These strategic moves coincide with Mantra Health’s ongoing work as an affiliate partner of the National Association of System Heads. The company plans to showcase its policy agenda at the upcoming State Higher Education Executive Officers Association conference in August 2026, aiming to align funding frameworks with the growing demand for campus-wide mental health resources.
