Kia Pits Realism Against Plastic in New 2027 Seltos Campaign

Drivers of diminutive, toy-like compact SUVs look on with envy as the 2027 Kia Seltos handles terrain and cargo tasks they simply cannot manage. This visual contrast anchors Kia’s new marketing push, positioning the second-generation crossover as a legitimate, feature-heavy contender in an overcrowded segment.

Kia Pits Realism Against Plastic in New 2027 Seltos Campaign

The campaign, headlined by a 30-second spot titled "A Real SUV," utilizes a mix of CGI and physical toy-car props to emphasize the size and capability gap between the Seltos and its competitors. Beyond the marketing theatrics, the 2027 model marks a significant departure from its predecessor. Kia has expanded the cabin and cargo dimensions while integrating technology typically reserved for its flagship Telluride, including nearly 30 inches of combined screen real estate and the latest ccNC infotainment system.

Russell Wager, Vice President of Marketing at Kia America, noted that the vehicle is designed for buyers who require small-footprint versatility without sacrificing big-car utility. The 2027 lineup, which includes LX, S, EX, and X-Line trims, introduces a hybrid powertrain featuring an electric-AWD system—a first for a Kia hybrid SUV. Standard and available upgrades now include flush door handles, a panoramic sunroof, and advanced driver-assistance features like junction-turning collision avoidance, signaling the company's intent to elevate expectations for the entry-level SUV category.
