The Lake Erie Heritage Foundation confirmed that Lee Greenwood, ASIA, and Jefferson Starship will headline nightly performances during the event. While Independence Day marks the initial approval of the document, organizers emphasize that August 2 represents the moment 56 delegates formally signed the Declaration, committing their lives to the cause of liberty.
David Zavagno, executive director of the Lake Erie Heritage Foundation, noted that the event invites Americans to gather in Ohio to symbolically sign the Declaration once again. The location holds historical significance, as it sits near the site of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry’s victory in the Battle of Lake Erie, which helped secure the independence claimed in Philadelphia decades earlier.
The programming includes a variety of performances and displays, featuring the Ohio State University Marching Band, the United States Navy Band, and the U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps. Alongside musical acts, the commemoration will host Revolutionary War living-history encampments, maritime heritage exhibits, and a fireworks display over the lake. The concert schedule begins with ASIA on July 31, followed by Jefferson Starship on August 1 and Lee Greenwood on August 2.
