The 2026 rankings reflect a blend of enduring favorites and emerging destinations. While San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, secured the top spot for cities globally, Santa Fe, New Mexico, maintained its dominance as the premier destination within the United States. New arrivals also made a significant impact; Patina Osaka in Japan was named the Best Hotel in the World, and Hotel Albatross in Ocean Grove, New Jersey, earned top honors as the Best Continental Inn in the U.S.
In the aviation sector, EVA Air ascended to the top of the international airline category, while JSX claimed the top ranking among U.S.-based carriers. Other notable winners include Singapore Changi Airport as the world’s best airport and Virgin Voyages, which led the mega-ship cruise category. According to Jacqui Gifford, Editor in Chief of Travel + Leisure, the diverse list of winners underscores a collective traveler interest in experiences that feel uniquely rooted in their local surroundings. The full results are available in the August issue of the magazine, with additional editorial coverage published on the brand's digital platforms.
