McDonnell brings a track record of scaling high-growth digital businesses to the role. During his tenure at Coinbase, he expanded the Subscription and Services division from $10 million in revenue to over $2 billion, eventually accounting for more than half of the company’s total income. His earlier career includes a decade-long stint at Google, where he focused on AI-powered marketing attribution and ads measurement. Fetch CEO Wes Schroll highlighted McDonnell’s technical background and capacity for execution as critical assets for the company’s next phase of development.
The appointment comes as Fetch intensifies its push to solidify its position as a retail-agnostic advertising platform. Currently tracking $212 billion in gross merchandise value, the company processes more than 13 million receipts daily. McDonnell’s arrival marks a strategic effort to leverage this data to refine the user experience and expand the rewards ecosystem that has already distributed over $1 billion in points to consumers.
