With the U.S. military increasingly seeking resilient power sources, Austin-based Hyliion Holdings has appointed defense innovation expert Abdul Subhani as a strategic advisor. Hyliion Recruits Defense Veteran Abdul Subhani to Lead Military Strategy

Subhani arrives at a critical juncture for Hyliion as the company pivots to integrate its modular KARNO power plant technology into defense applications. His background includes serving as a Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army for Texas and holding advisory roles at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. These professional ties are expected to accelerate Hyliion’s penetration into a market that demands both energy security and operational efficiency.

CEO Thomas Healy views the appointment as a tactical move to capitalize on the growing interest in KARNO technology. The company has already secured several contracts with the U.S. Navy and projects an additional $40–50 million in military business throughout 2026. By leveraging Subhani’s expertise, Hyliion aims to bridge the gap between its commercial energy solutions and the specific, rigorous requirements of modern defense infrastructure.
