IDCA Debuts AIFS Certification for AI Infrastructure Professionals

As artificial intelligence shifts from experimental code to physical necessity, the International Data Center Authority is launching the AI Factory Specialist (AIFS)® certification. The program aims to bridge the widening gap between software-focused AI training and the specialized engineering required to house, power, and scale modern AI environments.

IDCA Debuts AIFS Certification for AI Infrastructure Professionals

While most AI curricula prioritize algorithms and software development, the IDCA approach targets the underlying physical and digital architecture. The AIFS® certification focuses on the engineering principles and operational methodologies essential for planning, designing, and maintaining the high-density facilities now termed AI Factories. According to Lizabeth Hood, Global Head of Education and Membership, the course addresses a critical market demand for standardized expertise in an industry struggling to keep pace with rapid infrastructure evolution.

The certification targets a broad range of professionals, from infrastructure architects and data center operators to government stakeholders and technology investors. By combining technical instruction with real-world case studies, the curriculum covers the lifecycle of AI-ready infrastructure. IDCA Chairman and CEO Mehdi Paryavi noted that the success of AI depends entirely on the supporting hardware, which demands a departure from legacy data center models toward more complex, sustainable engineering approaches. The program is currently available through IDCA’s global network, offering both virtual and instructor-led training options to support deployments ranging from enterprise-level setups to hyperscale AI environments.
